Our Christmas dinner at Migrateful

So nice we had to do it twice…after the success of last year’s festive cooking, the Humankind Research team couldn’t wait to return to the beautiful Migrateful kitchen in Farringdon. This time, we swapped Afghan flavours for the vibrant spices of Sri Lanka and the food was just as delicious!

Migrateful’s mission to empower migrant chefs and celebrate global cuisines makes these experiences so much more than a meal; they’re a chance to learn, connect, and give back. You can read a little more about them here: https://www.migrateful.org/ (and they’ve just opened up a new location in Bristol!)

Under the expert guidance of Chef Akram, and some fantastic Migrateful volunteers, we created several authentic Sri Lankan dishes; fish cutlets, parippu (lentil dhal), sambal, pineapple curry, beetroot curry and chicken curry served with coconut rice – you can imagine the glorious smells in the room. We broke out into small teams to create each dish and there must be something about working for your food that makes it taste even better as the end results were sensational.

We finished the evening feasting on what we had created and exchanging Secret Santa gifts – leaving with full bellies and feeling very grateful for amazing food and company. Would recommend!
