Communicating Renewable Energy Policy with Clarity and Care

RSPB

We worked with the charity following a policy review to understand how best to communicate its position on renewable energy to members, supporters and the wider public.

Through a bespoke survey of nearly 5,000 people, including both supporters and a general population sample, we explored levels of awareness, understanding and concern around renewable energy and its impact on nature.

Our approach also examined whether people felt the charity had a role to play in this conversation, with boosted samples ensuring the views of Scotland, Wales and ethnically diverse communities were properly reflected.

These insights helped turn a complex and potentially divisive issue into a clearer evidence base, showing where concerns were most likely to arise and how the charity could communicate its position with greater confidence and care.

Impact:

A robust evidence base that helped the charity assess reputational risk, understand member concerns and shape a more informed, sensitive approach to communicating renewable energy policy.
