The Third Sector Awards 2024

The Third Sector aims to celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations operating in the third sector, recognising their tireless efforts and transformative impact.

The winners of the 2024 Third Sector Awards were recently announced and it’s brilliant to see such a range of different charities and causes represented in that list. We want to give a particular shout out to a few of our clients who feature…

Alzheimer’s Society

Alzheimer’s Society were shortlisted for the Brand Development work in recognition of their rebranding work that has been ongoing since 2021. Reflecting on their rebranding journey in their own words:

‘We took a hard honest look at ourselves as an organisation and realised that if we wanted a world where dementia no longer devastates lives, we had to make fundamental changes to our brand. We rebranded Alzheimer’s Society to put dementia front and centre of people’s minds so they would recognise us as the UK’s leading dementia charity – the experts who give help and hope to everyone living with dementia now and in the future.’

Humankind are proud to have partnered with Alzheimer’s Society at several points in this journey, conducting research with a wide range of the charity’s audiences - including people living with dementia, carers, supporters, staff, volunteers and healthcare commissioners - to ensure they landed on a vision, mission and brand positioning that could successfully unite these audiences behind the charity.

Cats Protection

Cats Protection were also shortlisted for the Brand Development work, following the launch of their new brand that aimed to engage a new and larger audience. In their own words:

‘Research showed that the brand wasn’t as well recognised, loved or understood as it should be. By transforming every aspect of our look and feel, and developing a new narrative to describe what we stand for, we needed to challenge and change outdated perceptions and create a brand that’s fit for the future. The new brand positions us as a modern charity, the expert in all things cat. The visual identity captures the unique essence of cats and the special bond they share with humans.’

Humankind are delighted to have played a role in this rebrand, conducting research with multiple audiences to explore different visual identities and territories for the rebrand, and help inform its direction.
